The Hatfield Broad Oak PTA&F is a registered charity (number 1130036) and as such works within guidelines set out within its constitution.

The object of the HBO PTA&F is to advance the education of pupils in the school in particular by:

Developing effective relationships between the staff, parents and others associated with the school;
Engaging in activities or providing facilities or equipment which support the school and advance the education of the pupils.
Part of OFSTED is community cohesion to which a strong bond with PTA&F and parents is part of.

The Trustees and Committee are one in the same group and currently consist of the following people:

Chair Mark Haddon
Secretary Andrea Pleasance
Treasurer Arlyse Walker
General Members
Justeen White

Headteacher Sonia Strickland

One of the main objectives is to raise much needed funds that in the past have been used to buy a digital camera, new chairs for the ICT suite, new musical instruments, build the friendship garden and an additional playground as well as subsidising class trips, and special topic week activities . However, the PTA&F is not just for fundraising. We also work hard to encourage the community spirit of the school by providing fun activities for the children as well as offering opportunities for parents and staff to get together in a relaxed environment.

The Trustees are always looking for new and innovative ways to raise money. Past events have included a band night, children’s and family discos, a black-tie ball, pamper nights, an annual Summer Fete and Christmas shopping evening, Easter egg hunts, pumpkin and sunflower growing competitions and an annual guy building session to support the church’s bonfire night fundraiser.

We have a webshop which raises funds through on-line shopping. Over 100 High Street retailers support the scheme. The shopper doesn’t pay a penny more and the PTA&F can earn commission on every purchase made. Please use the link or visit

By far the biggest event the PTA&F undertakes is its annual 10K Road Race and 1 mile children’s fun run. The race celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2010 and is now one of the most popular events in the South East of England. It is licensed by UK Athletics and has a B.A.R.R. silver grade.
